About the Chefs
Jeffrey Krameris a graduate of an Escoffier Chef School, and then California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, where he trained with culinary greats Julia Child and Jacque Pepin. The youngest among the students, Jeffrey was mentored by many European master chefs and was privileged to do externships at The French Laundry, Fleur De Lys and Chez Panisse. His 30 plus years of restaurant experience, catering and private chefing has afforded him the opportunity to diversify his cooking experience. Jeffery’s classic French Escoffier training has merged with his holistic nutritional Ayurvedic studies, inspiring innovative creations and personalized menus designed to achieve optimal health and wellness outcomes.
Steve Hertzfeld, co-owner of Counter Culture, hails from Bethesda, Maryland, and has lived and worked across the United States. His culinary journey began in Washington State, where he served as a summer backcountry guide and cook for trail maintenance crews. There, he learned to multitask in remote settings—guiding, cooking, and making the most of limited resources while minimizing food waste. Since relocating to Telluride, Steve has brought his skills to several of the area’s top culinary establishments, including Alpino Vino and Brickhouse 737, and has worked extensively as a private chef. He is passionate about designing custom menus that reflect the unique character of each event, season, and setting.
